#GoodEnough

The Inner Critic and the Inner Encourager, personified on stage. It hits the put-downs we all say to ourselves.

What happens in the hall

Two voices get pulled out of students' heads and put on stage where everyone can see them. One tells you that you are going to embarrass yourself again. The other reminds you that you have done harder things than this.

Students watch the two voices fight it out on stage. In the workshop straight after, three volunteers take the stage and play the Inner Critic, the Inner Encourager and themselves, repeating each line as an “I” statement in front of their year level. Once a voice has a face and a body, it can be argued with, and that is the whole mechanism of the visit.

It lands on the put-downs teenagers actually use on themselves: how they look, what everyone else thinks, and whether they are good enough as they are.

Then the workshop

The performance opens the conversation and the Self-Talk workshop is where students do the work. It runs straight after, in the same slot, and it is included in the booking rather than quoted separately.

One year level, in your hall

Performed to a full cohort, up to about two hundred students. Show and workshop run back to back and fit a normal timetable slot, roughly an hour all up, and we work to your bell times rather than ours.
